As was mentioned in my introduction of Chloe, the child can be quite calculating and can apparently read me like a book. Let me set the stage before I jump right into what felt like being duked by a 2 year old. We try our best to provide a variety of foods and introduce them to new flavors instead of letting them eat chicken nuggets for every meal. In the kids defense (or our defense) they do love vegetables and typically eat them first thing at dinner time. Sweet and sour shrimp and veggies over noodles was on the menu this evening. The shrimp was going to be a hard sell so I only served one shrimp on their plate so they could at least try it, and as suspected it did not go over very well. Kasey and Lawson found the entree quite delicious. Yes, Lawson pounded the puree dish (minus shrimp) with excitement and legs kicking. Lily went through her typical dramatic routine of showing disgust at the meal and washing every bite down with her milk. Abby complained, "I don't like it", but ate it anyway. Chloe began the meal similiar to Abby, but then after a bite or 2 decided she was done. And when I say decided, the decision has some finality to it. We coaxed her to eat , but she insisted on asking to be excused. Finally I told her if she would not listen to us and she wanted to be excused, she would need to go straight to bed. To emphasize the point, I asked her if she wanted to go to bed. The conversation went something like this (Chloe obviously speaking 2 year old speak)
Me: Chloe, do you want to go to bed right now
Chloe: Yes
Me: Then go to your room and get in bed
Chloe: I can't climb into my crib
Me: Good point, go get in Lily's bed
Chloe: Bye, bye
Me: (dumb look on my face cause 2 year old just bested me)
In other news, Lawson has had enough of everybody walking out of the room on him and instead of crying to get our attention he just army crawls his chunky little butt on in to where we are.
Thank you Ashee for being the first to follow the blog.
