Daddy vs. Kids - Day 2

Daddy takes a commanding lead of 2-0.  Granted it was pretty easy on me today seeing as how I didn't get home til close to 7:00 due to a customer golf tournament, and Lauren had already bathed and fed everybody.  I don't hide the fact that raising 4 kids under the age of 5 can be difficult at times, but the positives far outweigh the negatives and today was one of those days when I really felt it.  Arriving home to three girls running to you and excitedly yelling "Daddy, Daddy" makes it all worth while.  The Boy rolled over and gave his charming little Chiclets filled smile as well.

Today was our parent / teacher conference to discuss Lily's progression and if she is ready for kindergarten.  Mrs. Matiko was very complimentary of Lily and informed me that she has accomplished all the tasks that they like to see kids perform going into kindergarten.  We were never worried about her, but it's nice to hear that she is on track if not ahead of schedule.  One area that we have really emphasized in all our children is that they show respect and manners.  Her teacher made not that Lily is very courteous and polite.  Emphasizing these traits can at times be quite tedious and repetitive, but it's all worth while when another adult goes out of there way to tell you how well behaved your child is and what good manners they have.  I remember well when Lily wasn't even 2 years old yet we were making certain that she did not say "yah", but rather used "yes" for the affirmative.  Many a person made the mistake of saying "yah" around Lily, and were then quickly corrected by Lily, "we don't say yah, we say yes".  The twins are going through this process as well right now.  It's sunk in with Abby, but Chloe still occasionally has to be reminded.  Both of them try to make sure they don't have to be reminded by over emphasizing the s sound in yes - yessssssssssssss.  It's really quite cute.

As a follow up to my post on Easter, I did have my talk with Lily and she has a good understanding of what Easter truly is.  Her answer, "Easter is when Jesus died on Friday, and on Sunday He woke up."
